About Us

The Reformed Presbyterian Church North East India (RPCNEI) came into existence as a church-based society and a non-profit charitable organization on the 8th of April 1979. Its headquarters is at Churachandpur, Manipur, India. RPCNEI is the first Reformed denomination that exist in the North Eastern States of India. Now the Church is an association of 99 local churches with 10822 members according to 2024 census. RPCNEI operates in Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya states of North East India.

RPCNEI is organized in six Presbyteries and two Mission fields. From its inception in 1979 until 1995, RPCNEI was associated with the Saharanpur Presbytery and Delhi Bible Presbyterian church in north India. In 1996 it became an independent Synod. The RPCNEI is a founding member of the Reformed and Presbyterian Fellowship (RPF) and a member of Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) at National Level, North East India Council of Churches (NEICC) at regional level, and at the international level member of International Council of Reformed Churches (ICRC) and World Reformed Fellowship (WRF). Beside these, RPCNEI is a member of Micah Network International.

RPCNEI began her outreach to society through opening Children’s Home at Saikawt, Churachandpur in 1980 amongst the 18 tribes in North-eastern India, drawn from different background who are living in critical conditions in the hill Districts of the North east India. RPCNEI work in partnership with De Verre Naasten the Netherlands, Red Een kind the Netherlands and Word and Deed Canada in different Christian ministries such as: Integrated Community Development, Disaster response, Education programs and child development in the northeast India, Training of local church leaders, church building construction.

RPCNEI since then has a long track record of the following initiative:

1) Child Care program through Children, Home and Child Development Centre

2) Integrated Community Development Program (CCCD) or Child Center Community Development.

3) Micro-enterprises Development- facilitating small business and income generating activities.

4) Intensive agriculture training on “Sustainable Agricultural Land Technology” (integrated with environment, WATSAN and community Health Program) with the upland farmers.

5) Vocational Training-taking care for children who lack opportunities in their families and communities and school dropped-out.

6) Out reached ministry among the Meiteis in Manipur, Karbi Anglong, Bengali and Kachari tribes in Assam, Tripuris tribals in Tripura.

7) Evangelism and capacity building among members of the local churches.
